Pediatric Treatment

Pediatric Treatment

Babies, toddlers, and children under the age of 12 are treated with Japanese style Shonishin (“show-knee-shin”) acupressure tools rather than needles. Tuina, a Chinese medical massage is also very useful for treatment of children. Many of the techniques can be taught to parents to be done at home daily to sustain results of treatments in the clinic.   Nutritional suggestions are also given to families to help solve the underlying problems in many conditions rather than simply masking symptoms.   As children transition in age or become more accustom to treatment, small needles may be used but are not left in as they are for adult treatments.

Initial treatment

30 – 45 min.

This includes an in-depth intake with parent or guardian and child if able, followed by a Japanese style Shonishin treatment, any dietary suggestions, and instruction for easy to do at home care if applicable.

Follow up treatments

20 – 30 min.

Brief intake of changes since last visit and opportunity to answer questions or concerns, followed by a Shonishin treatment, any dietary suggestions, and instruction for easy to do at home care if applicable.
